hotel brio is a small boutique hotel located in Playa Gigante on the spectacular Tola coast of SW Nicaragua. We offer elegant rooms, full restaurant service, as well as surfing and fishing tours, and Spanish classes. The hotel complex is nestled on a private ocean-view ridge immediately behind Gigante Beach, which is just 300 meters away. OUR doors opened to our first clients in January 2007. We currently have six guest rooms with plans to expand over the next few years. All rooms have ceiling fans, and optional air conditioning is available in several of our rooms. Opened to the public in 2009, the brio café & bistro is open from 7AM until 10PM and can seat up to 80 people. Check out our menu! We have satellite internet service, as well as mountain bikes and surfboards for rent. ROOMS prices range from $25-50 per night for a single with $5 for each additional person up to four total. The single base price is $10/night higher during Christmas, New Years, and Easter (Semana Santa) weeks. Reservations are encouraged, especially during the April to September high surf season, and during holidays. Reservations can only be held with a 50% non-refundable deposit (Paypal/credit card, personal check, wire) PHASE 1 at Brio includes six guest rooms, a restaurant/bar, and a couple apartments for employees. Phase 2 (2009-2010) will include a swimming pool and at least six more guest rooms. WE OFFER surfing, fishing, and ecotourism (snorkeling) boat trips on an hourly or daily basis, as well as full tour packages via Costa Nica Expeditions. Our boats are beautifully equipped (surf racks, fish fighting chair, stereo system with Ipod jack) and are anchored in the bay directly in front of the hotel. Escuela Bigfoot, led by long-time Nicaraguan language school Director Juan Delgado, is the only Spanish language school on the Tola Coast. We are active participants in community development and environmental conservation (see description at bottom of this page). IN GIGANTE and within 30 minutes walk enjoy several different beaches, world class surfing, and fresh local seafood. View howler monkeys and blue morpho butterflys in the Zacatan Ecological Rerserve, and see abundant tropical fish in the rock reefs that dot the headlands. |

Brio, the Community, and the Environment:
Our philosophy at Hotel Brio is that economic sustainability begins with an empowered local community and a commitment to the environment.
Hotel Brio has been involved in a number of community issues, from English language classes to transportation infrastructure to environmental education. In August, 2008 we began an English language outreach program for local children and adults, staffing the free classes with recent US college graduate volunteers. In 2008 we also initiated a long overdue road repair for the community. Working with our neighbors at Arenas Tola and Aqua Spa, we graded the 5km of road from the Tola coast road to Playa Gigante Village.
Hotel Brio is already committed to several green programs and we intend to add more as we grow. Our environmental initiatives include: two large underground rainwater catchment tanks with 10,000 gallons of storage capacity, a gray-water recycling system, an organic vegetable garden, and a major composting program. Native drought-resistant trees have been planted throughout the property, along with native cacti. We also coordinate our efforts at the hotel closely with the Zacatan Ecological Reserve, which is owned and managed by one of the owners of Hotel Brio. |
